We are a very friendly, relaxed group and welcome all bridge players with basic playing skills. Normally, we have two to three tables and play until about 4:00 pm. Chairs are rotated every four hands, so we get a chance to play with everyone. Our meeting location varies as members take turns hosting.  Each month, the location is listed in the "Welcome Mat" newsletter. Once you receive the newsletter, please call or email the hostess to assure your seat at the table.

Bridge - Daytime: 4th Wednesday @ 10:00 am

Party Bridge is our game. We are casual and friendly, welcoming all bridge players with at least basic playing skills. We meet in the home of our Chairperson, and normally have four or five tables, and play until about 1:00 pm.  Once our tables fill, we start a waiting list of substitutes for last minute emergencies or illness.

Bridge – Marathon: Annual Commitment

Join our bridge group for a nine-month friendly competition.  You and your partner play a different pair each month at a member’s home, scheduled at the convenience of the foursome.  We use Chicago scoring and scores from each month are totaled at the end of the 'season.' In June, we celebrate with a luncheon where multiple winners are named, and prizes are awarded.  Our season runs from September through May; however, the schedule is flexible and matches are easily arranged to accommodate extended travel or other needs.  A nominal fee is charged.

Bunco: 4th Tuesday @ 10:00 am

Bunco is a very friendly, social game that is easy to learn. The biggest challenge this fast-paced dice game presents is counting your rolls while talking!  Players form teams and take turns rolling the dice to accumulate as many points as possible in each round.  The most points wins the round and each team changes with each round. The fun continues until noon.  No experience is needed.  Everyone helps each other.

Canasta: Last Monday @ 10:00am

This isn't your Grandma's Canasta!  Come join us for a wonderful day of cards, friendship and food.  We play the last Monday of every month at Capital Ale House (Glen Allen) from 10:00 am until about noon.  Haven't played in a while? No problem! We will help refresh your skills. Never played before? We are happy to teach you.  Please RSVP to reserve a spot!

Mah Jongg – American: Every Wednesday @ 1:00 pm (except NV Luncheon)

Mah Jongg - American.png

American Mah Jongg is a traditional tile game, much like Rummy.  We use the National Mah Jongg League playing card. The object of play is to use your tiles to form a selected pattern from the playing card. The game involves strategy, skill and a certain degree of luck!  It's a lot of fun, and highly addictive. Members take turns hosting. For additional game information, please call one of our co-chairs. Come join us to see what this version of Mah Jongg is all about.

Mah Jongg – Chinese: Every Wednesday @ 1:00 pm (except NV Luncheon)

Interested in a fun afternoon? Interested in keeping you brain sharp? Join us in playing this ancient tile game. Unlike American Mah Jongg, we have about 80 different hands and the combinations are endless. Members take turns hosting our group in their homes.  We are happy to teach newcomers at any time!

Scrabble: 1st Thursday @ 10:00 am

This non-competitive group meets on the first Thursday of every month, at 10:00 am. We meet at St. Mary’s Woods Retirement Residence (1257 Marywood Lane near the Gayton Crossing Mall area of Henrico). Many players opt to stay for lunch in St. Mary's Woods gracious dining room. This is a social gathering that welcomes newcomers at all levels of familiarity with scrabble.   Approved word lists and the official Scrabble Dictionary are provided.
